Short reads on how Kept works, from setup to safety.
A few terms that come up on the Chastity screen, explained.
A chastity timer is "locked" from the moment it starts until it is unlocked. That can happen at its scheduled end time, early by whoever has permission to end it, or never automatically if the timer is indefinite, since an indefinite timer has no end time set. A locked timer can be a self-timer, where a sub locks themselves with no Dom involved, or Dom-imposed. If a Dom imposes a lock while a sub already has a self-timer running, the imposed lock takes over and the self-timer is marked superseded, so the two never run at once.
A short, logged, time-limited exception to an otherwise continuous lock: long enough to clean up, without counting as a real unlock. Each timer has a fixed number of these allowed (2 by default), set when the timer starts. Using one counts against that limit and is recorded in the timer's history like any other event. Once the allowance is used up, no more are available on that timer.
An optional game-style feature, turned on per timer when it starts, that applies a random modifier to the lock: extending it, shortening it, or some other effect, via dice, a wheel, or a card draw. The result is decided server-side, so neither partner can influence it. If a timer wasn't set up with rolls allowed, the Roll action isn't available on it, and there is no way to add rolls to an existing timer, only to a new one.
None of this is required to use chastity tracking. The plain version is starting a timer, watching the countdown, and ending it when it's time.
